“CORE OF EMOTION/CODIFIED PAINTINGS”. IMANOL MARRODÁN

 

The series of "coded paintings" is inspired by the I Ching or "Book of Changes", in Taoist thought. They are resolved with an innovative technique based on bilayer paint for car bodies. Going beyond representation, which in "nuclei of emotion" takes us into utopia through sensory communication. The pulsations recorded by an echocardiogram or the I Ching hexagrams provide more information about the phenomenological world, about the fluent universe in which we are immersed, than any documentary record about the apparent reality we inhabit. Marrodán's pictorial and photographic work draws on these informative references to make visible the energy flow that underlies objects
